Dear Lena (Head of product design), why did you become a designer and what makes working at MEISSEN so special for you?
My fascination for colors and the longing to design something originally led me to art. I then studied porcelain design in more depth in a master's program - I found the applicability, methodical work and mediating thinking between companies and society highly exciting. I enjoy teamwork and challenging questions: What does MEISSEN need for the future? What can we use to inspire people for MEISSEN as a living cultural asset? How can color trends, but also social changes be integrated into porcelain design? In Meissen, we find ourselves in the perfect area of tension between artistic creation and the question of what occupies people and how we can enrich their lives.
What inspired you in the development of the Lindt x MEISSEN "Sweet Exotics" decor?
For the cooperation with Lindt, I was inspired by MEISSEN decorations that go back to the naturalist and draftswoman Maria Sybilla Merian. Merian was a fascinating and courageous woman who was far ahead of her time and whose complete works have significantly inspired and influenced porcelain painting in Meissen since the 18th century. For the "Sweet Exotics" décor, we have now created a new interpretation of this painting, a radiantly exotic world of décor that also pays tribute to the origin of chocolate, but beyond that, also staging.
What makes the "Sweet Exotics" decor so special for you? And what is your favorite piece of the Lindt x MEISSEN series?
I just love the interplay of all the colors of these selected motifs, which give a very beautiful and sensual modernity. The blue of the iris, the purple of the pomegranate, the bright yellow of the cocoa bean in interaction with the noble white and gold - the charm of this decor lies for me in the overall composition, the sparkling colors and the joy of life radiating from it. The hand-painted service has become particularly noble, in every detail a work of art!

How long does it take to develop such a decor from the initial idea to the final product?
We worked on Lindt x MEISSEN for a total of 1.5 years. The design process was completed earlier, of course, but we also accompanied the craftsmanship until everything was perfect.
If you could do the packaging design for another Lindt product, which would it be and why?
At Easter, there is the iconic Lindt Easter bunny for me and my children every year and there not only children's eyes shine, so of course this would be an absolute dream!
Dear Maurice (Head of Product Management), why did you choose MEISSEN® Cosmopolitan as the service form for the "Sweet Exotics" decor?
MEISSEN® Cosmopolitan embodies modern table and dining culture to perfection. The straightforward design and the elegance of the individual items make it an incomparable experience on the laid table. The modern design language is thus the ideal basis for the traditional Merian painting and the perfect service for our extraordinary cooperation with Lindt Hochfein.
Dear Lena, Dear Maurice, what is your favorite Lindt chocolate?
Lena: I love the Lindt Excellence bars with extra cocoa - we always have some at home :)
Maurice: For me, the Edelbitter Mousse Chocolade Truffle is a treat! Accompanied by a nice cup of coffee - the perfect time out.
